Pico Island: 'Magic' was designed to be a wine cellar.
The concept is linked to the vineyards of Pico (defined by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site) and on the highest mountain in Portugal. The wine rack, shaped like the island of Pico, has a sloping profile that characterizes islands form when in use. The four places for bottles symbolize the island's qualities: the vineyard landscape; the highest mountain in Portugal; the island's whaling tradition; and the Gruta dos Torres (cave). The support for the wine glasses are in quadrangular basalt stone alluding to the volcanic stone walls of the vineyards called of 'currals'.
